To me, the CBD skincare trend looked aggressively unhelpful, as did other high-profile stuff like probiotics, adaptogens, crystals, etc.
The direction of CBD for skin was, in my opinion, the next big wellness movement that the beauty industry was working on (and it worked).
I'm not trying to be a hypocrite and I really appreciate and believe that CBD has been proven to have sustainable health benefits. After all, it helped me deal with my own anxiety!
But when you're an editor on a beauty blog and you get, say, 15 different emails a day talking about the latest and greatest CBD skincare release on the subject, you get jaded at the glut of information. Plus, research on this type of CBD product is still quite limited. Its most promising topical benefits so far are its natural anti-inflammatory and pain relieving properties.
Due to the fact that I had a severe fatigue from CBD information overload and because many products use oils that clog crap in my pores, I ignored most of the CBD-infused skin care products that I came across, even the most seductive and the most flashy of themselves from all sources, as well as the latest novelty mask that came across to me - CBDfx Charcoal Face Mask , an elegant line of cannabis products. Founded in 2015, the brand was originally based on compelling product launches like vape pens and high quality CBD edibles, but as of this March of last year, the brand has also gone out into the world with a new line of skin care products, having its own CBD serum, various enriched masks. as well as balms for various purposes with CBD
Of course, both products contain other skin-enhancing ingredients, such as botanical actives, exfoliating acids, and vitamins, but despite the temptation, I still couldn't shake the feeling that I was being succumbed to the marketing-alluring current CBD frenzy. and then I'll be disappointed, because I'm a skeptic, am I going to fall for something in the form of a fancy design?
I recently moved home to Arizona, and what I love most is when my parents give in to my experiments without question, especially when it comes to new and exciting beauty products. And, many thanks to them, they are always ready for new achievements and want to try something new. I once got them to try the best-selling Korean mask that made our faces look mummified (and then flawlessly glassy), and I even convinced my dad to try his fall skincare routine.
Even though I definitely have skin problems like acne and dullness, I don't suffer from many skin problems as many popular products claim to target age-related imperfections - wrinkles, loss of elasticity, pigmentation, etc. so I can deal with my acne and lethargy somehow) But for my 70 year old parents, this is relevant, so yes, I love testing hyperemic skin care products on their actually aged skin to see how they are doing well. This is the best beauty experiment and I think it's important.
So my suitcase included enriched CBDfx masks: CBD Aloe Vera Face Mask , CBD Cucumber Face Mask , CBD Face Mask – Rose and with the coal we tried , they came with me the following Sunday to my parents' house in Arizona. We all washed our faces before applying and didn't use any filters or editing manipulations when I took before and after photos of our faces. Obviously, the results and differences won't be insanely dramatic, but all three of us were surprised as hell by how great our skin looks after using the masks. “I was equally prepared to be stunned and disappointed (sheet masks usually don’t really excite me because they don’t really work), but I was honestly surprised at how happy I was with how my skin looked and felt after peeling off. masks. Like I said, I'm not a big fan of sheet masks, although I liked a few of the recommendations Erin gave me, but oddly enough, instantly my face looked and felt significantly more hydrated. My dullness was gone and the overall effect was radiant, bright and healthy. “At this point, I have tried almost every kind of skin care product and masks have never been my favorite. They are always messy and dripping and just never enjoyable or relaxing. Thoughts: Like my parents, I'm not a super fan of masks. I love face masks, but I definitely prefer the old fashioned look of masks that I can smear on my face. For some reason, I find that almost all the sheet masks I have used are overly rich in serum, which makes them slip, drip and create general discomfort and doesn't give a relaxing effect because of it all. I just want to put something on my face and not think about it while I watch Netflix, you know?
Before applying this CBDfx preparation to my face, I washed with an exfoliating cleanser, so my complexion was a little puffy and red than usual. However, the mask claims to be soothing and even out the skin due to its anti-inflammatory properties, so I was interested to see what would happen.
The serum that the mask is soaked in has a unique texture that I'm not really a fan of - thick and a bit sticky, less slippery and whey. But it had a nice smell and I didn't feel like it clogged my pores, so I tried to enjoy it without prejudice. After the mask was left on for 10 minutes - the instructions say 10. but I kept it for about 15 - my redness was practically gone, my pores looked smaller and my skin was surprisingly dewy and shiny. I also appreciated that the serum quickly absorbed right into my skin and I didn't have a thick layer of residue that my skin needed to absorb. These masks are perfectly portioned with the product.
My skin felt sufficiently hydrated that I actually skipped adding moisturizer after removing the mask, and the moisturizing effect even continued on my evening flight back to LA - impressive. Best of all, the mask and its ingredients did not cause any problems. Anyway, my skin continued to look more even, smoother and more radiant despite not changing anything in my skin care routine. To be honest, I didn't want this mask to impress me, but it is. I rarely see such instant results with sheet masks or even regular masks, but this formula is special.
